I just got back from my Home Depot Tour. A man friend was kind of enough to show me the ins and outs of this intimidating place. We covered door hinges, types of wood, and wood staining. I left with $95 worth of materials. Ran home to practice replacing American hinges with European hinges. American hinges are visible on the outside of the doors. European hinges are concealed behind the cabinet door.
It was me, my 18v Ryobi drill, a 35mm boring bit and a test piece of Oak wood. Here I go! Drill bit attached and ready to rock! DRILLLLLLLLLLL... Hmm. Not penetrating the wood. I press harder. Still not penetrating. Press even harder at full speed. I smell smoke. I remove the drill to find the slightest dent made to the wood. This doesn't look right... I may need to take a class in this. Anywho, time to catch up on the latest episode of Private Practice.
